The Keystone Active Zone Passport is a FREE program that everyone can use to get outside and active at close to home parks, trails and free events over the summer.  The program began on April 12th, run thru the summer, and ended on Labor Day, September 1st.  Participants could start the program at any time.

How does the program work? The passport has 24 “stops”; all parks, trails and free events in Luzerne County.  Visit as many stops as you wish and answer the scavenger hunt question listed for each stop on the passport.  Revisit this website or call to submit and log your scavenger hunt answers.  You will receive a stamp for each stop successfully visited. Attach your stamp to your passport to log your progress.  The more stops you successfully visit and log, the more chances you have to win.

How do I get started?

  1. Register to participate through this website.  You will automatically receive a Passport.  Once you have registered you can begin the program.

  1. Visit as many passport stops as you wish.  Find the answer to the stop’s scavenger hunt question.  Revisit the website to submit and log your scavenger hunt answers.  Set a goal for yourself.  Collect all 24 stamps.

  1. Once you have logged 5 stops, you will receive a stamp for each stop successfully visited.  Attach your stamp to your passport.  For each level you reach, you will receive the following awards:

How do I get a Passport?  When you register on the website, you will automatically be provided with a passport.

KAZ E-news – how do I get this? Once you are registered, then sign up for the KAZ E-news so you can receive information about other great opportunities and events.

I already have a Passport, so do I still need to register?  Yes.  Registering makes you eligible to:

  • win great prizes - see list below.
  • collect stamps to put on your passport to show your progress and participation.
  • receive the KAZ e-news and get advance notice about special events and opportunities to be physically active in Luzerne County.
  • help us evaluate the program so we can keep it funded and improve it for the future.

KAZIf I already have a Passport, do I need another one?  No, but please register for all the reasons above. 

What if I want more information about a Passport stop?  Each stop’s contact information is on the passport so you can make direct contact. 

If I don’t have internet access, can I still register and participate?  Yes, you may register by calling 570-408-1630 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday thru Friday and we will mail you a passport.  

Can I bring my pet to a park, trail or event?  Each stop has its own pet policy so check each stop for information.

How can my school, workplace or organization get involved? You can download a fact sheet for schools and a fact sheet for community organizations and workplaces that give ideas for how your school, workplace, faith community or organization can use the program. You can also download a KAZ poster that you can use to promote the program with your group.

Prizes – how do I win?  As you log your answers, you are automatically entered to win prizes.  A complete list of prizes is below.  Prizes will be drawn and awarded on September 5th, 2008.  Winners will be notified by mail.

  • visit and learn about all the great parks, trails and events in Luzerne County
  • discover new ways and places to get outdoors and active.
  • improve your fitness and health by being active outdoors – the best way to increase your daily physical activity is by walking.
  • be eligible to win great prizes.
  • feel pride in accomplishing something new. 
  • have FUN!

Is this program in other parts of Pennsylvania?  Yes, the Keystone Active Zone Passport is a program of the Pennsylvania Advocates for Nutrition and Activity (PANA).  Many other counties in the state have developed their own passports.  Visit www.keystoneactivezone.org for more information about PANA and the KAZ program in other Pennsylvania counties.
